ZDS Software Labs ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Freezemate mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App. Please read it carefully.
1. Information We Collect
Account information: When you register, we collect your email address and display name. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we may also receive a profile photo URL from those providers.
Content you create: Meal names, descriptions, photos, expiry dates, serving counts, recipe templates, shopping lists, and planner entries you add to the App.
Community content: Posts, comments, and group interactions you share in the community section.
Household data: Household name and member identifiers when you create or join a shared household.
Usage and device data: Device type, operating system version, app version, crash reports, and general usage patterns collected to improve the App.
Purchase information: When you subscribe to Freezemate Premium, Google Play processes the payment. We receive confirmation of your subscription status but never your payment card details.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, operate, and maintain the App and its features.
- To sync your data across devices and household members.
- To send expiry reminders and push notifications (you can opt out in device settings).
- To verify and manage your Premium subscription.
- To display personalised or contextual ads to free-tier users via Google AdMob.
- To detect, prevent, and address technical issues and abuse.
- To improve the App based on aggregated, anonymised usage data.
3. Third-Party Services
Freezemate relies on the following third-party services that may collect or process your data under their own privacy policies:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Analytics) — firebase.google.com/support/privacy

- DiceBear — generates avatar illustrations for demo accounts — dicebear.com
We do not sell your personal data to any third party.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on Google Firebase infrastructure located in the United States. We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Meal photos and profile pictures you upload are stored in Firebase Cloud Storage and are accessible only to you and members of your household (for meal photos) or publicly for profile pictures within the App.
5. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.
6. Community Content
Content you post to the Freezemate community (meal posts, comments, group posts) is visible to other App users. You are responsible for the content you share. Community posts may persist for a reasonable period even after account deletion; contact us if you need specific posts removed.
7. Children's Privacy
Freezemate is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Data portability.

9. Advertising
Free-tier users may see banner advertisements served by Google AdMob. AdMob may use device advertising identifiers and cookies to serve personalised ads based on your interests. You can opt out of personalised advertising in your device settings (Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalisation).
Premium subscribers see no advertisements.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
